Our Services/Rates

  • Together, you and your therapist examine what current stressors and behaviors are contributing to depression, anxiety or a state of stagnation. While every therapist has their own style and theoretical grounding, we tailor our methodology to each of our client’s identified needs and preferences. As a team, you and your therapist will work to help you achieve a sense of agency over your life and the confidence in yourself to navigate difficult situations more effectively on your own. You’ll likely explore your family of origin and look at past and current patterns, such as self-esteem issues, substance use, body image issues, relationship issues, anger issues and more. Together, you’ll identify manageable goals to help you achieve the changes you want, and you’ll work toward those goals using a variety of techniques that work for you. Typically, meetings are weekly or bi-weekly.

Current Group Offerings

During times of turmoil and stress, it can be appealing to try to plan, to strategize, to consume information as though your life depends on it, to scramble for whatever sense of control over our circumstances we think we can grab at to feel like we know the outcome of a future that hasn’t yet come to pass. We know from research, from spiritual teachings and perhaps from our own experience that this method only increases anxiety.
This offering is meant to help us tap into our instincts and our intuition and to develop a trusting relationship with ourselves so that we really feel, deep in our bones, the we can withstand whatever comes. The we will keep ourselves safe.

Starting Monday 4/21, I’ll be meeting virtually on Mondays at 12pm on a weekly basis to use hypnosis to ground, to strengthen self-belief, and to bring you closer to your intuition so that you walk away feeling more relaxed and better assured in your ability to withstand troubling times. Click the flier to the left to sign up and get a Zoom link. This offering is free for all, though I welcome any exchange you’d like to offer at Venmo: Lauren-Urban.

There have been lots of headlines written since 2020 concerning the “loneliness epidemic” among adults. We see more and more therapy seekers giving voice to a deep loneliness, lack of connection and feelings of isolation, who also feel that the weight of social anxiety is a huge impediment to their motivation, energy and ability to change this. This group is meant to be a first step toward removing barriers to change for adults 45+ who have identified that they want to make connections, be less lonely and less isolated and build supportive community. In this 6-week virtual cohort, facilitator Nina Ehrlich-Foley, LCSW will create a supportive space for participants to support one another as they explore their feelings of loneliness and isolation, create connections with one another and co-create ideas and solutions to remove barriers to their wellbeing. Drawing from TF-CBT, EMDR and DBT skills, Nina will utilize a strengths-based approach to help guide participants toward their own inner reserves of resilience and empowerment.

This group will take place Wednesdays at 7pm and will be $300 for the 6-week cohort, There will be at least one scholarship spot offered. We’ll cap the group at 8 maximum participants, to ensure intimacy. Free consultation with Nina for more information, $50 paid intake session required before beginning. Group will start as soon as there are enough participants.

This is a support group for folks who’ve decided their goal is sobriety, but don’t resonate with the traditional AA pathway. The focus of this group will be helping participants create the conditions that will support them in achieving and maintaining the sober life that they want to build for themselves.

This group will help members cultivate sober community and peer support, build DBT and mindfulness-based self compassion skills to help them feel more resourced, and feel like they have a firm foundation for sobriety. This group is rooted in harm reduction - members don’t need to be sober to enter and there will be no resetting the clock in the case of a relapse.

This group will be taking place Tuesdays at 6pm. There will be a paid intake assessment to start, and groups will be $30/session with a 6-session commitment. Participants will have the option to continue after the initial 6 sessions. Click the flier to the left to schedule a consultation to have your questions answered and see if this group is right for you!

Our Commitments to our Therapy-Seekers and our Community

Psychobabble Therapy and Wellness is a small group practice founded by Lauren Urban, LCSW in Ridgewood, Queens. Psychobabble Therapy and Wellness is the extension of Lauren’s private therapy/coaching practice, started in Williamsburg, Brooklyn back in 2012. It is Lauren’s profound hope that Psychobabble Therapy and Wellness will be a space where clinicians can feel supported and encouraged to grow and to stretch themselves and develop authentic styles and voices as clinicians so that they can help their therapy seekers embody their most authentic lives — lives that they feel that they have chosen and lives that they feel proud to be living.

Whether you’re reaching out for therapy, practice coaching, case consultation, as a potential employee or for group offerings and services, we strive to make Psychobabble Therapy and Wellness feel like a soft place to land. Welcome!

What is Psychobabble Therapy and Wellness?

At Psychobabble Therapy and Wellness, we have made the commitment to maintaining an anti-oppressive, identity-affirming space. We are aware of the systems we exist within that oppress some and elevate others, and we are aware of our places and our privilege within those systems. We have made the commitment to strive to be in right relationship with the communities with which we intersect and interact on a daily basis. We commit to attending training and seeking learning and mentorship in order to dismantle these systems within ourselves and to be anti-racist, anti-oppressive practitioner. We commit to striving for transparency of our pricing and our policies and to access for therapy-seekers at all income levels. We commit to employing ethical, fair and non-exploitative labor practices with our therapists and practitioners. We commit to honoring all of our commitments. We commit to receiving feedback and invitations to make it right when we have failed to honor one of these commitments.

Testimonials

Practice Coaching w/Lauren

“When I was considering starting my private practice Lauren offered me priceless advice and practical information. She helped me employ practical details that I use regularly in my practice. I knew I could reach out to her about anything, big or small; we would work together if she did not know the answer!  My practice is thriving thanks to the support and advice I received from Lauren!”

Case Consultation w/Lauren

“Even though I'm an experienced therapist, I came to Lauren when I ran into a client situation that felt stuck. Her friendly style and wealth of experience helped me to see new possibilities for action that I hadn't thought of before, and ultimately, helped me to join with my client more deeply. Lauren's knowledge and skill show in the insightful questions she asks and the concrete suggestions she provides. I recommend Lauren to any practitioner who is looking for consultation, especially in working with highly sensitive clients and people who have difficult relationships with substance use.”
